Hickling Broad Discover Sailing Day Delights All Ages

On Saturday 25th April, our sailing club was delighted to host a highly successful RYA Discover Sailing Open Day. With lovely sunshine and light winds drifting across the broad, the setting couldnt have been more perfect — the water looked absolutely spectacular throughout the day.
We were fortunate to have a fantastic turnout of volunteers, who worked tirelessly to give visitors a memorable experience on the water. Guests enjoyed trips in the club Wayfarers as well as powerboat rides, offering something for everyone, whether completely new to sailing or simply curious to try it out.
Back on shore, the galley was buzzing with activity. A steady stream of hungry visitors enjoyed freshly prepared egg or bacon sandwiches, alongside an impressive selection of delicious homemade cakes kindly baked by our members. The day continued with a well-received lunchtime BBQ, adding to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
We were thrilled to see a constant flow of visitors throughout the day, both young and old, many of whom were taking to the water for the very first time. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with plenty of smiles and enthusiasm all round.
Our Membership Secretary, Duncan Potter, was kept very busy dealing with a high number of membership enquiries — a clear sign of the days success and the growing interest in our club.
A huge thank you goes to all our volunteers and members who helped make the day such a success. We look forward to welcoming many of our visitors back again soon.
