RYA Training
As an RYA Approved Training Centre, our club provides high-quality instruction for sailors and powerboaters of all ages and abilities. From beginners discovering the joys of being on the water to experienced sailors and powerboaters looking to develop their skills, our courses offer structured learning in a safe and supportive environment.
Throughout the year, we run a variety of RYA courses, including dinghy and powerboat training, giving everyone the chance to progress at their own pace. Our experienced instructors are passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping members gain confidence, competence, and enjoyment on the water. We also warmly welcome new instructors who want to join our team and help support training at the club.
Whether you are new to boating, looking to improve your skills, or interested in teaching, our RYA training programme offers opportunities for everyone to grow and enjoy the water.
Inclusive for children and families
At our club, we recognise that children are our future, and we are committed to helping young members become competent, confident sailors who can enjoy a variety of watersports. There are many opportunities throughout the year to develop skills, including T-Sails (after school on Tuesdays during the summer) and RYA courses for all ages and abilities.
Junior sailors can take part in regular Sunday junior and novice races, as well as junior class starts at regattas. Our experienced fleet racers are always happy to offer guidance and advice, helping younger members gain confidence and enjoy the excitement of racing.
We are a welcoming, family-friendly club, catering to everyone with an interest in boats. Whether you or your family are pleasure sailors, racers, new to the experience, or lifelong enthusiasts, there is a membership to suit you.
Racing at Hickling Broad
Racing has always been at the heart of our club, with a long and proud dinghy racing tradition that welcomes sailors of all abilities. Our programme runs from March to October, combining friendly competition with a supportive, inclusive atmosphere, ideal for both experienced racers and those new to club racing.
New this year, we are excited to introduce a regular junior racing programme, providing a clear pathway for young sailors to develop their skills and gain confidence on the water. With enthusiastic fleets, regular events, and plenty of support, racing at the club is as much about enjoying the water and camaraderie as it is about competition. Whether you want to hone your skills, take part in club regattas, or simply enjoy the thrill of sailing with others, youll find a warm welcome and opportunities to get involved at every level.
