Joining Instructions:
This is a three day course (Sat 23, Sun 24, Mon 25) starting at 9:30am - 3.30pm, please arrive anytime from 9.15am.  Here's a Google map marker for the sailing club. Address: Staithe Rd, Hickling, Norwich NR12 0YJ.

Please park in the sailing club car park and walk down to the club site through the main dinghy park, where we will gather on the lawn. It helps arriving already dressed for sailing as there is a limited changing and showering area.

What do I need to bring?  For those sailing in smaller tippy dinghies: if you have a warm wetsuit, wet boots, sailing gloves and buoyancy aid, fantastic! Alternatively, old sports clothes, leggings, t-shirts, shorts and trainers are good too. Bring clothing that can get wet and dirty. No wellies, bare feet or open toe sandals / crocs, please. Bring a bag with a WARM dry change of clothes and a towel each day in case you get wet, even in hot weather you can still get cold in the water. It's a good idea to check the weather forecast beforehand, for rainy days it's good to bring warm waterproofs. Name labelling helps reduce our lost property pile! If it's hot, a sun hat and sun cream, please. It helps arriving already dressed for sailing.  We have a small male and female changing area with showering facilities. It is a good idea to remove any dangly jewellery, non-waterproof watches and electronics (phones) before you go out on the water.  If you have an RYA log book, please bring this along too.

Everyone out on the water must have a buoyancy aid of at least 50 Newtons. We can provide buoyancy aids as part of your course, 12yrs and under must have a buoyancy aid on whilst walking round the club site.  We have extensive quay heading with unguarded drops, although the water is fairly shallow, for safety we've put this rule in place. The wearing of helmets to protect the head if struck by a boom while sailing is a matter of personal/ parental choice. Please feel free to discuss it with one of the instructors if you wish.

A morning and afternoon session is planned, please ensure you have brought a drink, lunch and snacks along.  We do have a basic galley and can serve tea/coffee/squash.

Any questions please get in touch with the Training Team training@hicklingbroad.com
