Youth Racing

If you are a junior member and you would like to try racing, this is the year to try it. Following on from a successful 2009 season Tim, Matt and the Flag Officers have been putting a great deal of effort into the 2010 programme.

We already have a successful junior squad lead by Dale Lawson and Rebecca Sheldrake as captains and this year we hope to increase the size of the junior race team and improve their chances of success by continuing with our race training days. Using video filming and playback (provided by our own professional cameraman Tony) and Matt Boreham's keen racing eye we hope to continue the good work done by Mike Claxton in previous years.

If you’re a junior wanting to take the first tentative steps into racing or if you are an existing racer wanting to hone your skills this is a day not to miss!

In the last few years, Hickling has had a growing junior racing fleet.
We aim to encourage as many juniors to try racing.

At Hickling you can start racing at pretty much any sailing ability. There is seperate start for the junior fleet in the Spring and Summer series plus many club events and regatta's.
Usually it's 3mins after the allcommers.

At our club, we encourage advanced juniors to help out on duties in the race box and powerboat crewing.
