The first event during the 5 day sailing event was the Evening Regatta. This was held over three evenings, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with a start at 7.30 each night. Syd and Hilda Wren were the principal race officers with help from Matt Boreham and others. Racing was gentle on the Wednesday with force 2 winds resulting in a win for Simon and Rachel Clayton in their punt, the second spot was shared by three boats, another punt, and RS 300 and and RS 400. The Thursday race was strange with a big rain front, flat calm in the middle and then a wind that brought all the slower boats up to the front and so a Gull won and the punts were last on handicap. The Friday race was a brisk affair with force 3-4 winds and the Punts excelled again.

The Summer regatta held over 2 days under the race management of the Commodore, John Parker and assisted by Vice Commodore, Tony Aldous and Rear Commodore, Terry Vincent went off well. Saturday was windy with force 4-5 winds as evidenced by windsurfers galore on Hickling Broad. Racing was exhilarating for all and many capsizes and a few breakages occurred. Sunday was lighter in the wind front but went well. John Parker praised the juniors racing in particular for very competitive starts. The Solo fleet had the best turnout in the class racing and the Junior series had 10 qualifiers, the highest in the handicap series. The pursuit race to finish the regatta saw a win for Limelight sailed by Geoff and Alex Tibbenham from the Rossers in their RS400 and Matt Bate in a topper, really good. The evening barbeque with a caribbean theme was spectacular in the food (many thanks to Michelle and her gang) and dress department!
