> Do I have to be a club member to sail on Hickling Broad?
Anyone can sail on Hickling Broad provided that they first obtain a Broads Authority
License. However, to sail from the club using our facilities you have to
either be a member or be signed in as a guest of a current member.

> What dinghy classes do you sail on Hickling Broad?
Most classes sail on the Broad including Wayfarer, Laser, Splash,
Leader, Solo, Punt, Wanderer, 420, Enterprise, Phantom, Bittern,
Fireball, GP14, Topper, Optimist etc. See our boat guide for more
information on some of these classes.

> Do you have a racing programme specific to dinghy classes?
Racing is mainly AllComer but in the spring and summer regattas there are Solo, Laser,
Norfolk Punt and Slipstream class starts. There are also specific class open events during the
season (see the programme for details).

> If I don't want to race can I still be a member?
Yes, many of our members choose not to race, but enjoy cruising.

> Do I need to know how to sail before joining the club?
No, Most new members will usually have done some sailing but the club welcomes sailors of ALL abilities.

> Do you run training days to help improve my sailing skills?
Yes, both adult and junior training sessions are held at the club.

> Can I bring guests along to the club to watch whilst I sail?
Yes, you can sign in guests, a maximum of three at a time and no more than six times a
year for the same person.

> Does the club have a car park?
Yes. This can usually meet demand. If we have a very large turnout
for a regatta or open meeting, we may arrange and advertise overspill
parking. Please do not park on the Pleasure Boat Inn public house car park.

> How do I join Hickling Broad Sailing Club?
Apply to the secretary via the website. You will have an introductory
chat with two members of the committee and will have to be proposed
to the committee.

> Do you have rescue boats out on the broad during sailing
days?
Rescue boats are always available during organised club events,
which include Sundays and Wednesday evening sailing.

> Do you have a boat park where I can leave my boat and how
much does that cost?
We have a large dinghy park. Please see our membership page for details on fees.

> Can I leave my boat on the boat park all year round?
Yes, providing that you pay the relevant berthing fees, Please see our membership
page for details.

> Does the club organise social events throughout the year?
Yes, we run social events in Spring, Summer and Autumn.

> Does the club produce a newsletter / have an email update service?
Yes. The newsletter 'Broadsheet' is published four times a year. Members may receive e-mails when there is need to communicate. The website is also used to convey news and updates on a regaular basis.
