Welcome to the Hickling Broad Sailing Club.
Young or old, experienced racer or complete novice the club has much to offer, from a friendly helping hand to get you started to a full programme for the racing enthusiast. We also offer five training days per season for both junior and adult members of all abilities. The juniors also getting a very popular race training day.
And what a setting! The safe non-tidal waters of Hickling Broad, fringed with reed beds, is part of an ecologically unique and scenic national nature reserve, abundant with rare wildlife, including bitterns, swallowtail butterflies and protected plants. The reserve forms part of the wider Broads National Park, much of which is accessible to the cruising enthusiast.
There is nearly always a good wind on Hickling Broad, and when the sea breeze kicks in on a balmy summer afternoon, Hickling sailors will still be enjoying themselves when more inland clubs have abandoned activities.

Club boats are available during organised club events if you do not have your own or would like to try something different. If you would like advice on buying a boat then many of the clubs members have many years experience that they are only to willing to pass on. Whether you simply want to 'potter around' in this lovely environment, get involved with the racing or play an active role in the running of the club and its social programme, you will be made most welcome.
Your safety is taken very seriously at the club and all racing and training activities are accompanied by at least one rescue boat. All members are encouraged to wear buoyancy aids and it is mandatory for the under 12's whilst on the club site.
Most importantly, the club is run by its members for its members, so everyone becomes an important part of the club. We encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas with the committee directly. To keep you informed about club racing, social events and other activities members receive a quarterly 'Broadsheet' newsletter and together with regular website updates you should never miss a thing.
