This year we are going to concentrate on the five essentials of sailing.

Sail Trim
Daggerboard position
Boat Balance
Boat trim
On course

We also want to encourage the juniors to rig their own boats, learn the names for each part of the boat and understand the uses of each piece of equipment.

This we hope will not only give a better understanding of how the boat works but also we hope it will teach respect for the boat they are sailing.

It is not our intention to make it a classroom exercise but to put some exercises together to incorporate the five essentials and perhaps to spread it out over the season.

We will break the groups up into three

Basic
Intermediate
Advanced

But still concentrating on the 5 essentials.

It may be helpful, if we can find volunteers with two man boats to take some juniors out individually. This would free up the Toppers and alleviate the need to have two juniors per Topper and thus explore balance and trim as well as giving experience of sailing a two man boat and trapeze technique.

Photos
Throughout the year, we are taking photos and video of all aspects of club sailing.  If any parent/guardian does not want their child to be photographed, please inform us of your wishes in writing. this is also on the Junior days consent form
